Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actress best recognized for her role as Detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue, for which she won the Emmy Award. She is also known for her roles in the drama series All My Children Philly CSI: Miami as well as Army Wives. She was born as the only child of a high-ranking executive in the United Auto Workers and a household worker, Delaney had a family of four brothers. She envisioned becoming a court reporter in childhood but started modelling while in high school eventually garnering commercials when she moved into New York. Her first appearance as an actor was as an innocent teenager in the show All My Children. Delaney an actress in her early years from the 1980s has appeared in numerous TV shows and in dramas. Her professional career has been better than her personal life. There were two unsuccessful marriages and struggled with addiction issues. In 2005, she was denied the custody of her sole son.
