Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26 1991) better known by her professional moniker Ari Lennox is an American singer and songwriter born in Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist to be signed to J. Cole's label Dreamville Records. She released her first EP for the label on Oct. 21 2016 titled Pho where she gained fame. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album was released May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox has been uploading her music since 2012 following the debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. In 2014, Ari Lennox dropped her single Bound and her mixtape, which she released herself, Five Finger Discount. The track Sweat it is featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album on July 21, 2015. The following year, her music began to circulate throughout the Dreamville team as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some potential references to Rihanna. In December 2008, it was announced that Rihanna had contracted by Dreamville Records. Backseat is a track that she performed together with Cozz in the Revenge of the Dreamers II collaboration album. The 21st of October, 2016, the artist released her debut album titled Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening act to J. Cole on his single Change in 2017. She also was a part of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018 she guest-starred in two of her songs with label-mates EarthGang to Nothing but the Best. Also, she appeared on Bas On Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first track Whipped Cream from Shea Butter Baby on July 16th. A music video followed followed by a video in September. In November, she dropped two singles, 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. Then, in November 2013, she released No One and Pedigree. She was featured with Cole on the Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby, on November 16th, and made the track available as a single by herself to her first album. The music video premiered on 20 February 2019 in conjunction with the song. Within the first period of a week, the video had more than 3,000,000 views. In December 2018 the singer was a part of her From East Atlanta With Love Tour, which featured 6LACK.
